Infrastructure Testing
STS-UK Group offers a wide range of building and structural testing covering simple lift beam load tests, up to load testing of floors, walls & roofs of any structure. The comprehensive testing offered can accommodate any loading task required in a building. In today's climate, buildings are often renovated and re-used for such uses as industrial, residential and retail. These buildings often need to be checked/tested to ensure that the loads being imposed on them are up to the relevant standard and fit for purpose.
Load testing of buildings is a popular means of demonstrating a structure's capabilities when a simple analysis is not practical. Typical situations include:
- Change of Use
- Fire Damage
- Unknown Building Strength
- Suspect Performance
- Routine Verification of Lifting Equipment
- Additions or Extensions to Buildings
- Loss of As-Built Drawings/Load Information
A variety of loading techniques can be applied according to the desired weight required, if there is any relevant British Standard, the condition of the building and logistical limitations. Water and/or kentledge weights are the most popular methods. These flexible methods are tailored to fit the clients' needs for their project.
All monitoring of deflections and load is undertaken electronically; other qualities may also be measured where relevant; such as crack widths, strain and temperature. All monitoring undertaken by STS-UK Group is carried out electronically to a high accuracy, logging back to a bespoke central logger. This means that no data is missed and detailed graphs and reports can be issued to the client.
