Trampoline Park Inspections

The International Association of Trampoline Parks (IATP) has announced the launch of a British Standards Institution Publicly Available Standard (PAS) PAS 5000:2017. The standards specification offers guidance for the construction of a fixed indoor trampoline park, as well as covering day-to-day park operating and maintenance requirements.

IATP board members have been working with the BSI steering group involving the Royal Society of Protection of Accidents, British Gymnastics, Environmental Health Officers, Health and Safety Executive and Constructers and Operators. The result is a set of standards by and for the trampoline park industry to help minimise the risks to park users and ensure they have a safe and enjoyable experience. The voluntary standards have been created to support trampoline park operators, designers, manufacturers and installers, as well as inspection and enforcement bodies such as the Health & Safety Executive and Environmental Health Officers.

From August 2018, UK parks will need to demonstrate compliance to the PAS in order to join/renew the UKIATP Membership and its vast benefits which include access to Discounts, School Trips and Tailored Insurance Programs. https://www.indoortrampolineparks.org/page/UnitedKingdom

RoSPA would like to see all existing commercial trampoline centres declare their compliance within 18 months of the standard release (i.e. September 2018), and for new build locations after this date, prior to opening or as soon as practicable thereafter. It is now also becoming evident that most Insurance Underwriters are requesting an Inaugural Inspection (to the PAS) to be carried out in order for them to satisfy their requirements to provide insurance for the nominated Park. Some Insurance Brokers also offer additional perks to aid with this requirement.
