Glass Panel Testing

Glass Panel Testing

Glass panels are proving to be a more popular system to put in place, due to aesthetics, lighting and potential additional structural integrity. These are increasingly replacing the use of steel framed balustrades in such places as, residential properties, retail/industrial and many more. Instances where glass panels are installed may vary, and include but are not exclusive to:

  • Glass (frameless) Balustrades;
  • Safety Glass/Plastic;
  • Windows;
  • Edge Protection;
  • Glass Walls.

STS-UK Group offer testing on all of the above installation scenarios, along with relevant impact testing, where necessary.

Conforming with the closest approved standard, BS 6180:2011, We offer full load testing as with the balcony and balustrade testing of all glass panels. Both on-site and laboratory testing is available with this service, followed by full report of the findings.

Impact testing is a further service that can be provided, once again conforming with specifications set out in BS 6180:2011 'barriers in and about buildings' and also in BS 6206:1981 'impact performance requirements for flat safety glass and safety plastics for use in buildings.

Impact testing can be undertaken on-site or in the STS-UK Group Laboratory, however, it is advised to carry out all impact tests within our Laboratory environment as this can subject the glass to potential breakage, and such clean-up of this can be costly when working on sites.

All glass panel testing is undertaken by specialised trained Technicians, and using highly accurate electronic equipment. All data is recorded back to a central computer where detailed reports can be created with clear concise results.
